We are pleased to present the 2018 February Babbler release.
This release includes new functionality, numerous functional fixes and enhancements.

Highlights
  • Babbler for returnable packaging (e.g. crates)
  • Firmware updates over the air (FOTA)
  • Small improvements to make you happy
  • Resolved issues

Babbler for returnable packaging
The Babbler is optimized to support smaller returnable packages. Until now, the Babbler supported the monitoring of (reefer) containers and other large cargo boxes (e.g. truck, train, vessel). Therefor a number of improvements have been made. Some of them also provide benefits for containers.
  • Now a package-list with a Barcode or QR-code can be scanned to create a Trip. You do not need to enter text manually anymore.
  • A Babbler device with a QR-code can be scanned to add the Babbler to a Trip. So: easy and fast scan of the Babbler mounted on the returnable package. The QR-code should contain the text "babbler_v1:<device_number>".
  • Possibility to End a Trip by scanning the mounted Babbler on the returnable package.
  • The API for Trips allows you to select your required attributes/columns (http://docs.api.babbler.io/#/trip/getTrips).

Firmware updates over the air
It is now possible to update the firmware over the air. For a small number of devices this is a fast and easy way to update the latest firmware immediately.
  • The mobile app identifies the availability of a FW update automatically.
  • The Babbler page offers the possibility to upgrade the FW.
Note: the FW upgrade is transmitted through the internet to your mobile phone and is transmitted by a bluetooth connection to the Babbler device. An upgrade screen is started. Wait until the upgrade is finalized.

Small improvements to make you happy
  • Search functionality in the App. Trips and Babblers can be found by entering one or more identifying characters.
  • Inspections are always performed. Now inspections are always executed, so the status of the cargo is sent to the Dashboard when a device is seen. All mobile app users are able to inspect all Babbler devices. This will result in more recent cargo statuses.

Resolved issues
  • In the Dashboard, the red line is explained as "Desired Temperature" in the legend.
  • LoRa messages now update the Seal Status in the Dashboard.
